Sewing with the Young generation!!

When looking at some blogs, I came across this one that struck a cord with me! Encouraging the young generation to sew, quilt, and do any other hand craft is really important to keep these crafts alive. Hope you enjoy it!!

Please leave a comment. I would love to see what you think of this. Thank you for reading my blog.

New Card Images!

There are four more card images for painting on fabric, creating a mini quilt, and sewing it onto a card.

All of the patterns are written for these images and ready for purchase. In the patterns, there is an image that has the placement area for each paint and formulas of how to mix the paints. Also, I have put together a small paint set, fabric medium (aloe vera gel), paint brushes, and fabric and card gifts for purchase to make it easy for students to start learning painting on fabric skills.

If you are interested in purchasing a starter kit, or if you know of someone who might be interested in purchasing a kit, please contact me and I will be able to send the supplies to you.

Thank you for reading my blog today. Have a wonderful day!

Heart Quilt

I have the pleasure of having my youngest son getting married later this year! He’s marrying a wonderful young woman whom I just adore.

As one of their wedding gifts, I have created the Heart Quilt pattern and making it for them. This is all made from 2″ squares and the final size will be 98″x120″. Yes, a very big quilt!

This will not be completed by the wedding date, however, it will be hanging on the wall and all attendees will be able to sign their name and add a message for the happy couple. There will be a table with a piece of fabric that I ironed onto freezer paper. The fabric will eventually be part of the back of the quilt along with a blessing that will be on the label reminding the happy couple that we are all supporting them through their journey of marriage.

My PAPA’S DOOR has been accepted in AQS Grand Rapids, Fall Paducah, and Des Moines shows for this year!  These are all international quilt shows and only 272 quilts have been accepted as semi-finalists.  This is the first time I am showing at a national competition of any kind!  I’m so excited to see comments of the judges.

This quilt is my first quilt that is one piece of white fabric and totally painted first then quilted.

If you go to see any of these AQS shows, please look for Papa’s Door and tell me how you like it!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Teaching Engagements

This week is a busy and exciting one for me!

Monday, April 3, I will be holding my last class for a very successful T-shirt quilt class at Sweet Home School’s Community Education.  I will be doing more classes, and will post when those are!!

Tuesday, April 4, at 6:30pm I will be doing a hands-on presentation on The Meaning of Color at the Newman Center on Skinnerville Road.  I’ll be talking about how colors effect our mood, spiritual meaning of colors, and bible references of the colors. We will be painting, so if you come, please wear a smock.

Wednesday, April 5, 6:30pm I will be at the Twin City Quilt Guild presenting my Trunk Show.  I am excited to tell my quilt journey and share my quilts!

Tuesday and Wednesday are at no cost to you. Please come and join these presentations! I would love to see you!

Power Outage

Yesterday with the high winds and power outage around Western New York (our house being effected as well), I could not do the sewing that I wanted to do on my Papa’s Door quilt.  So I started painting a class that I will be scheduled to do at Carriage Quilt Shop hopefully in April!

The power was off for about 4 hours and this is how far I got.  It will be mounted onto a stretched canvas and some of the flower pedals will hang off adding interest.  This weekend, I will finish painting it and writing the directions.  I will be presenting this to them in a couple of weeks.

I’m very excited to start teaching again!
