Quilted Star Pillow – 18″ x 18″

Description : We will be creating a pillow cover for 18” x 18” pillow using basic quilting techniques. Learn how to cut and sew half square triangles, match seams and corners.

Location : Sweet Home Community Education (call to register at 250-1424)
Dates/Times : Thursday, March 9-30, 6:30 – 9:30pm
Cost : $52 (Students need to purchase their own fabrics and bring their own supplies).

Required Supplies:

  • Coordinating threads (I use Mettler for piecing and BottomLine for quilting)
  • Cutting mat
  • Rotary Cutter (with new blade)
  • Ruler 8” x 24”
  • Small/sharp scissors to cut appliqué pieces
  • Pencil
  • Fabric marking pen (I like to use Frixion)
  • Straight pins
  • Quilting “safety pins”
  • Sewing machine (in good working order)
  • Needles size 80 and 70 (bring extra if one breaks)
  • Seam ripper
  • Stylis (optional)
  • Iron and Iron board(optional)
  • Ruler 8” x 24”
  • Velcro 20” of 3/4” wide
  • Fabric Purchase:
    • Note: If you wish to have another color scheme, be sure to have a light, medium, and 2 dark fabric.
    • White (light): 1/4 yd.
    • Dark Teal (dark): 3/8 yd.
    • Lt. Teal (medium): 1/8 yd.
    • Purple (dark): 1/8 yd.
    • Backing: 1/2 yd
    • Batting: 18” x 18” piece Cotton

T-Shirt Quilt – 56” x 56”

Description : We will be creating a T-Shirt Quilt – 56” x 56”. Preserve your memories by using your t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. in a quilt. Awesome graduation gift!

Dates/Times :Wednesday, February 22 – March 29, 2017, 6:30 – 9:30 pm
Cost : $85 (Students need to purchase their own fabrics and bring their own supplies).

Required supplies:

  • Sewing machine (in good working order)
  • Walking foot for Sewing Machine (will be easier to sew a quilt with)
  • Bobbin
  • Needles size 80 and 70 (bring extra if one breaks)
  • Seam ripper
  • Stylis (optional)
  • Rotary cutter (if you have one)
  • Rotary Mat (if you have one)
  • Quilting Ruler 8” x 24”
  • Small iron mat (if you have one)
  • Small iron (if you have one)
  • Small thread cutting scissors
  • Straight pins
  • Safety/quilting pins
  • Fabric pen (I use Frixion)
  • Pencil and paper for note keeping
  • Blue painters tape
  • Fabric Purchase:
    • T-Shirts:
    • 16 t-shirts = 56” x 56”
    • Batting: cotton 56” x 56” minimum
    • Backing and Binding: 3-1/2 yards
    • Fusible Interfacing (Med): 4-1/4 yards
    • 25 t-shirts = 70” x 70”
    • Batting: Cotton 70” x 70”
    • Backing and Binding: 4-1/2 yards
    • Fusible Interfacing (Med): 7 yards
    • 30 t-shirts = 84” x 84”

* NOTE: These are rough estimates. Your individual project may vary in size. The class hours were planned for the 56” x 56” quilt. If you are doing a larger quilt, you may have homework to do.


Quilted Seasonal Table Runner – Finished Size: 18” x 50

Description : Students will be learning basic quilting skills (cutting, piecing, quilting) to create a beautiful seasonal table runner. You will be learning basic quilting terminology, tools, and sewing.

The Meaning of Color

Colors influence our moods and emotions by simply wearing or seeing them.  We will be painting with different colors as we learn about there meaning and influence on our emotions.
