Heart Quilt

I have the pleasure of having my youngest son getting married later this year! He’s marrying a wonderful young woman whom I just adore.

As one of their wedding gifts, I have created the Heart Quilt pattern and making it for them. This is all made from 2″ squares and the final size will be 98″x120″. Yes, a very big quilt!

This will not be completed by the wedding date, however, it will be hanging on the wall and all attendees will be able to sign their name and add a message for the happy couple. There will be a table with a piece of fabric that I ironed onto freezer paper. The fabric will eventually be part of the back of the quilt along with a blessing that will be on the label reminding the happy couple that we are all supporting them through their journey of marriage.

Getting Ready for AQS Spring Paducah!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Going through my list of things to do to get ready for teaching at the AQS Spring Paducah Show from April 23-27, 2019!!!  It’s only 3 weeks away!!

I filled all of the little paint containers with Red, Yellow, Blue, and White paint.  Filling the Aloe Vera (Fabric Medium) containers was a bit tricky, but using a pastry bag and the big round piping tip worked perfect!!  Labeled all of the containers.

There are a few more things to pick up for my classes, have to do the step-outs for the ALL STAR REVIEW on Wednesday, and organize all of the boxes of class supplies I have.

I am really excited to attend this show!

Clarence Guild – Trunk Show

fullsizeoutput_e7d  This past Tuesday, I had the pleasure of presenting my quilt journey to the Clarence Quilt Guild.  They asked a lot of great questions about the fabrics I use, how long it takes to make a quilt, what type of thread I use, and many more.

There were some friends there that I have not seen since my JoAnn Fabrics and Aurora Sewing Center days.  (Those were the two places that I started teaching and learning more about quilting.)  Some of the members are also part of the Batavia Quilt guild, and I’m excited to go to their guild in June to present a trunk show as well as teach my ballet slipper card class.

Thank you, Clarence Quilt Guild, for having me at your meeting!  Hope to see you all again.

My New Adventures!

Over the past 12 years, I have been nurturing my quilting skills.  First it started with learning the basics of quilting.  Then I moved into the Art Quilting category which is still my focus.

Over the past 3-4 years, I have worked on my teaching abilities—working at JoAnn Fabrics, a quilt shop, and now finally on my own!!

Today, I will be going to the Quilt Consortium of New York State Retreat to show off my workshops for the first time.  I hope to have guilds and shops sign up for my workshops and lectures.  This is the beginning of me marketing and networking as a quilt teacher.  I am so excited for this new adventure!

In April 2019, I will be teaching 2 of my 3 hour workshops at the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Show in Paducah, KY!  This has been my ultimate dream! Below are the two classes:

Ask a quilt guild, group, shop if they would like to have me present one of my workshops!  All my workshops and events are listed on this website.

Please contact me with any questions you may have!

Have an amazing day!

Not Just for T-Shirt Quilt – Part 2

Last week I finished the front of the Hankie/Memory Quilt that I have been working on.  IMG_5463

My goal is to finish this by April 1.  Today I prepared the remainder of the hankies (13) for the back, designed the back, and was able to put the center part together today.

Tomorrow I have a 16″ border to put on that will have other hankies on it as well.  The final quilt is going to be around 100″x 100″.

I didn’t realize how big that is!  It’s huge!!!  When it is complete, I will have to be creative in how I lay it out for photos.  I really don’t have enough room in my house to lay it flat.  Yikes!!  I don’t have to worry about that until next week!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Thank you for reading this blog and visiting my corner of the internet!!

Spring Craft Show!!!

Wow!  Can’t believe this weekend is the Sweet Home High School Craft Show!!  I’m so excited to see everyone!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The photos above are showing some of the new items that will be on display at the show.

I’ll have some small pin cushions that I hand painted and stuffed with crushed walnut shells and wool.  I started with extremely thinned paint for the background colors.  I love the way the colors bled into each other.  Then painted the tree on top.  Today is the day to complete the tree cards.  I still have to add batting, quilt them, and sew them onto a card!  OMG!  I can’t wait to see how they look!!

The show is this Saturday, March 17 from 9-4 at Sweet Home High School in Amherst, New York.

Mention this blog and I will give you a small thank you gift for reading my blogs and supporting me!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Have a great day!
