This is an email I received from my son, Jake. He is working in St. Louis helping the homeless. I had the opportunity in the winter to visit him and was really impressed on the way this organization puts their heart and sole into helping the needy and understanding how to live simply and within their means.
Thank you for considering donating to this amazing cause.
Today is Give St. Louis Day, a 24-hour giving campaign that raises money for various non-profits in St. Louis. Depaul USA, the organization that I work for, is taking part in raising funds for our new program, the St. Lazare House. This program is among the first of its kind. All of the money donated to our program will benefit homeless young adults. Young adults who spend there days on the street are much more likely to end up in a never ending cycle of homelessness. Also, they are often mistreated. 60% report sexual abuse, 50% are already parents, 33% engage in survival sex, 46% are physically abused, 56% experience mental health issues and over 40% have been abandoned by those they trusted most. Depaul USA’s new program, the St. Lazare House, will be housing 15 young adults who are homeless. Our programs will help them gain the knowledge, experience and support they need to live a happy and independent life off of the streets. The St. Lazare House is set to open in early September and we need all the help we can muster! Every penny counts! Please consider donating to Depaul USA! Please be sure to pass this on to your friends and family!!
